The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced plans to auction off a total of 16 A and B Block 700 MHz band licenses on July 19, 2011. The licenses are for spectrum serving Puerto Rico, North Dakota, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia. The Commission has requested comments on proposed auction structure and procedures. The available licenses were offered in Auction No. 73, which ended on March 18, 2008, and remained unsold or were licenses on which a winning bidder defaulted. The deadline for comments is January 12 and reply comments are due by January 27, 2011.
