The Utilities Telecom Council (UTC) hosted 25 delegates from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) seeking information on the development and application of Smart Grid technologies. The Chinese delegates hold positions within the telecommunications administration at central, provincial and municipal levels of Chinese industry.
Lin Faxiang, Deputy Director of Fujian Communications said, “We came to UTC to seek expert advice and information on improving the smart grid in China. China has many rural areas that are also in need of improvement. We will bring the information back home to try to improve and upgrade our system with smart devices like the smart meters.”
UTC has global experience in championing best practices in critical communications infrastructure, which is the fundamental element of delivering the long term promise of smart networks. Additionally, UTC is planning a session that discusses the global perspectives of information and communications technology (ICT) and what it means for future design and implementation of communications network at UTC TELECOM 2012 on May 20-23, 2012 in Orlando, Florida.
Connie Durcsak, UTC President and CEO said, “We were pleased to host the Chinese delegates. There is a wealth of information that we can share with the global industry on smart networks. While many developments are the result of local regulation and legislation, there are certain aspects of design and implementation that transcend these barriers and make for best practices globally. As the voice of critical infrastructure communications, UTC’s representation of the industry’s interests will ultimately help shape utility technology and communications solutions globally.”
