In a letter from NIST's George Arnold to the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP), it was announced that Annabelle Lee is leaving NIST for a position with FERC. The move adds depth to FERC's cybersecurity capabilities and re-enforces the opinion that FERC to take a leading role in smart grid cybersecurity.
Mr. Arnold's letter states, "Annabelle Lee, who has chaired the working group since its inception, has accepted a new position with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where she will continue to be a key contributor to cyber security efforts related to the Smart Grid. I want to thank Annabelle for her leadership and dedication. With the SGIP‐CSWG moving into the next phase of its work, the transition to a new NIST chairperson, as called for in the SGIP bylaws, comes at an apt time. Marianne Swanson, a distinguished NIST computer security expert, has graciously agreed to assume the Chair of the SGIP‐CSWG. Marianne is a senior advisor for information systems security management in the NIST Computer Security Division. Currently, she serves as the Co‐Chair of the Working Group on Lifecycle and Standards, established under Comprehensive National Cyber Initiative 11, “Develop Multi‐Pronged Approach for Global Supply Chain Risk Management.” Marianne also has chaired the Federal Computer Security Program Managers' Forum for more than a decade and has authored or co‐authored more than 20 NIST publications, including foundational computer security documents used throughout industry and at all levels of government.
